Game Theme: Dads

With the goal of making a small batch of manufactured goods and later selling them, fellow designer Sam Gillen, engineer Eleazar Cruz Garcia, and I made a party game about the satire of suburban dads in modern pop culture. I was focused on graphics and construction.

Concepts and Research

We compiled lists of topics, game engines, game mechanics, requirements, and games to reference. we then had people rate game mechanics so we could use the top voted mechanics to develop our new game.

Play Testing and Voting

Voting Results

After weeks of play testing with bystanders and observations, we found that the pop culture of suburban dads and the competitive nature of the game was the preferred game by all involved.

Branding Graphics

Action Cards

The deck of cards for each game was outsourced for printing so we could focus on cutting and printing the pieces, board, and box. I still did the graphics before they were sent out. We also were in a time crunch to get them back with time to double check the print quality.

Shaping Pieces and First Print

Pieces Graphics

Box Graphics

We wanted to make the instructions easier to follow, so we had all the extra rules printed on the inside of the lid. I also put information on the bottom including graphics of the set up. After that, any of the rest of the information in a booklet that came with the game. The last pieces not mentioned yet is the currency (golden 3D printed burger coins) and a chart for the prices of each item.
